Happy Thanksgiving '04
No matter your personal issues, all of us have a LOT to thank God for. Of course, the old truth about others having it a lot worse than you is true. Further, we all have to admit that many times the hard things we experience work attitude and character in us more than the sweet stuff of life does.
Being thankful for harvest- to a degree due to our own thoughtfulness and hard work... and to a larger degree due to God's grace and providence which is FAR outside our ability to somehow earn or of course dictate... we must realize He is worthy of thanks, praise and worship for WHO He is, not just what He's done or is doing that is to our liking.
This is a good time to say thanks for and TO our heavenly Father, but also for and to your wife, husband, kids, parents, grandparents, a teacher or other mentor. Perhaps we could thank a friend for their love and faithfulness, a co-worker for their patience with us, etc..
In any case, give thanks! It's not only a command in the Bible, it's a good and humble thing to do, knowing that you can't nor ever will accomplish any good entirely on your own.
ELECTION 2004
So... those you voted for did or did not win.
Now what?
The world still spins, believer and unbeliever
still sin, God's grace is still available to
you, me, all of us... IF we'll seek Him and it
out. In fact, even if we don't seek Him and
it out.
Breath, sight, hearing, speech, the ability to
make good and helpful or harmful choices is
still yours and mine.
No politician I'm aware of has even come close
to reflecting the Risen Savior in His glory.
No pastor, preacher, musician or any other
professional has either.
I think we had better get back to growing in
the grace and knowledge of the Lord- as OUR
Lord... and demonstrating what His love and
peacemaking is all about. Without these,
nothing much changes- regardless who won.
