PATIENCE & INPUT EQUALS GRACE-
It does seem that right and proper leadership speaks at times, even hard words... yet weeps with those who weep as well as rejoicing with those who rejoice.

In accord with the Scripture, I'm convinced leaders are grown and raised up after first being called and gifted by the Holy Spirit. It's not merely an educational process nor is it a matter of desire and career-choice.

Having said this, any leader in the body of Christ must play a part in the discipling of others, and such requires patience with those who are growing slowly or seemingly very little.

There is indeed a time to call people to account for lack of growth and taking seriously the Word and obvious will of God in terms of their attitudes and treatment of others.

Some of us fail often at being lovingly patient with folks who aren't making much clear progress while others blow it by not -in love- addressing the issues in a more direct manner with those we are called to disiple in Christ.

It has always struck me powerfully that Jesus looked at the rich young man "with love"... and then said "this one thing you lack"... and then He told him to sell all his goods, give the money to the poor and follow Him!

I think, in one Gospel selection, in just these few words we have one of the most potent descriptions of what agape leadership looks like. Jesus clearly was/is what we must learn to become- loving yet direct in our verbal and other care for those God has called us to serve. It serves neither God nor people when we simply sit and collect "benefits" for ignoring the truth and love God has called us to share.
